Affected products: | All NAS Luminaire Controllers |
Type of correction: | Real-time clock (RTC) timing instability |
Action needed: | Firmware upgrade on devices that present symptoms |

A real-time clock timing instability has been discovered, affecting a small percentage of devices.
A small percentage of all models and generations of NAS Luminaire Controllers shipped before November 7th, 2023.
A significant drift in the device_unix_epoch timestamp, which can be found in status_packets, when compared to gateway timestamps. The rtc_com_warning (rtc_com_error) flag is often active when symptoms are present.
Onboard RTC chip sensitivity to electrical field.
NAS has released a firmware upgrade that activates an MCU RTC which is synthesised from a stable high-frequency crystal. This update will cause the possibly drifted onboard RTC time to only be used at power-up until LoRaWAN time synchronisation. This will ensure that the invalid RTC time can only be present until the first boot packet is received.
The fix for this issue is present on all firmware versions from 1.1.14 and onward (released November 3rd, 2023) or for users who do not wish to upgrade to 1.1.x, version 1.0.50 (released November 7th, 2023) and onward.
